I wanted to like this walker, I really did. It's a walker for us bigger folk (6', 265 lbs.). It allows me to walk taller; is wide enough that I don't hit my feet on the rear wheels; and I can get into and out of the seat as well as sit comfortably.
Now for the bad. The brakes are marginal at best. The narrow brake shoe pressed against a narrow wheel tread results in such a small contact area that the brakes slip easily - even when they are locked. The narrow wheel tread also means that the wheels will slide - with the brakes locked - across most smooth surfaces; even some rough surfaces like the fine gravel on a rail trail.
When I lock the brakes to try to sit on the seat, I either have to have my wife stabilize it or put it against a wall to prevent it from moving away from under me. Final knock is that it will not fit through most residential doors under 36" wide. I have another walker that I use indoors.
Would I buy this again? I dunno. I can use it outdoors and in the mall, provided I'm really careful. You'll have to judge for yourself.
Satisfied with so far -The only thing is it appears to be a little wider, so have some trouble getting it through my apartment door ways Irene L
Very satisfied with product. Everything you advertised.
This is the fourth walker of this type to see if maybe this one will hold up from daily use. All three previous ones have had wheel issues and broke within a short time. The last one broke after three days. This unit has been reported and a new one shipped... however did not receive it in time to take on a 3 week trip. House sitter verified that it arrived today, two days after we left for our trip. Am having to us an old walker that is a clunker. Unit is heavy, doesn’t fold easy, has an uncomfortable seat, and horizontal brace doesn’t allow for sitting for any length of time with a good feel. Have used other brands of rollators that were much more comfortable. Last try to use this Drive model, if this breaks I won’t be getting another, regardless of warranty.
I called because the walker was damaged. I have e-mailed photo of the damage and have been told that the manufacturer will not process a claim. This is wrong. I spent money to buy a wslker for my husband who is disabled and am now out the 140.00. Reporting this to my credit card and also the better business bureau if a replacement is not issued or I receive a refund.
