To Your Health: 5 Anti-Aging Drinks

Many drinks contain antioxidants or other compounds that help fight diseases associated with aging. Here’s a list of five, ordered from least to most fun.

    1. Beet Juice

Beets are rich in nitrates, which are good for your heart and increase blood flow to the frontal lobe of your brain, helping to combat dementia. Studies have also shown that beet juice can effectively fight inflammation, lower blood pressure, and boost stamina.

    2. Green Tea

According to a study from Japan, those who drink more than three cups of green tea a day live longer. This is likely because green tea contains lots of EGCG, an antioxidant that has been linked to lower risk of Alzheimer’s, heart disease, and even cancer.

    3. Coffee

Coffee is also rich in antioxidants, specifically flavonoids and polyphenols. Drinking three or more cups of coffee a day can prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s, according to a study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

    4. Beer

Step aside, milk. A study by Tufts University found that commercial beers are rich in silicon, another mineral that keeps bones strong. However, drinking too much can lead to falls and therefore bone fractures. Other studies have shown that beer reduces the risk of arthritis and kidney stones.

    5. Wine

Wine contains polyphenol resveratrol which has been shown to improve mobility and prevent falls. Other studies have shown that drinking wine in moderation can lower the risk of Alzheimer’s, cancer, diabetes, heart attack, obesity, and even tooth decay.
