Rubbermaid Black Cane Tips
So you're looking for a cane - one that's stylish and provides a little extra support while you walk. But if this is your first cane purchase, you may not be sure exactly what you need. We're here to help.
Canes come in a variety of handle styles each with their own strengths and weaknesses. When you first think of a cane you may picture a round or crook cane, like the ones that pull bad performers off stage in cartoons. Though these handles have an elegant simplicity to them, they can be harder to grip and offer less support than other handle styles.
Derby handles are large and conform to your hand, making them easier to grip especially for those who have arthritis or trouble grasping. Offset handles center your weight to take the strain off your wrist. Ergonomic handles reduce pain and are easy to hold. Palm grip handles reduce strain on your arm.
Cane tips are super important because they provide extra stability and can prevent slipping accidents. Be sure to replace your cane tip when it starts to wear out. For extra stability, consider getting a quad cane which features four cane tips.
Make sure to get a cane that's the right size for you. To find what size you need, wear your normal walking shoes and stand straight with your arms falling naturally at your sides. Measure the distance between your wrist and the floor. That's how high your cane should be.
Though it may not be essential to the cane's functionality, a cane's look can have a big impact on how you feel about it. Choose a cane with a look you like, that you could see yourself using every day.
And most importantly, have fun staying active!
